Gay Bingo is Back with Expanded Capacity, More Entertainment

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Palmetto Community Care’s most beloved fundraiser is back and bigger than ever

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Gay Bingo – a marquee fundraising event for Palmetto Community Care – will return on April 8, 2022 at the Charleston Convention Center in North Charleston. The capacity for this year’s event has been expanded to accommodate more guests, more bingo, and more entertainment than ever before. Avita Pharmacy will once again be the presenting sponsor.

This year’s theme is “Lipstick and Leather: It’s More than Just a Game,” and costumes are highly encouraged. Charleston’s very own Patti O’Furniture will return as hostess, and bingo winners will be treated to fabulous prize packages valued at hundreds of dollars each.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Palmetto Community Care’s ongoing mission to provide critical resources for those living with HIV in the Lowcountry by providing free HIV testing, education and other prevention resources.

“Tickets for Gay Bingo have sold out every year since its inception, and increasing the capacity of the venue this year will allow this fabulous event to continue to grow and flourish,” said Richard Reams, director of development and marketing for Palmetto Community Care. “In addition to an evening of fun and entertainment, Gay Bingo also reminds us that the HIV/AIDs epidemic still impacts many in the Lowcountry. At Palmetto Community Care, we are constantly working toward ending this epidemic through testing, prevention and education –– and our Gay Bingo fundraiser allows us to continue to work diligently toward achieving that goal.”

During this year’s event, hostess Patti O’Furniture will once again be accompanied by a fabulous troupe of Divine Divas –– members of the Charleston community who will be transformed into drag stars for the evening. The Divine Divas will also help Palmetto Community Care raise money and participate in a choreographed number during the event. This exciting way to be a part of Gay Bingo is open to all, and spots are extremely limited. Those interested should apply online at http://bit.ly/divinedivasapp

Gay Bingo will occur from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Charleston Convention Center. General admission tickets will be sold for $35 starting February 8 and continuing through February 28, and will increase to $45 on March 1, and $50 on April 1.
