[North Charleston, SC]: Palmetto Community Care today announced the official purchase of the old T&T Sportsman Building on Rivers Avenue. This milestone is a major move for PCC on its mission as the Lowcountry’s sole AIDS Service Organization ensuring no one living with HIV or AIDS goes without medical care, everyday resources, and emotional support.
“The future is brighter than ever when I think about all the possibilities this new location will provide,” says Bradley Childs, Chief Executive Officer at PCC. “This newly remodeled facility will house an all-in-one location for administration, medical case management, testing, prevention, medical care, mental health services, and an on-site pharmacy!”
Mayor Keith Summey expressed a similar sentiment, “It’s always exciting to see buildings like this being repurposed. Even more so when you think about the services that are going to be offered, not just for those living with HIV/AIDS, but having a medical clinic offering primary care and mental health services to the public is going to be an exceptional addition to this community.”
After renovations are complete, 5064 Rivers Avenue will be a resource and health center for everyone in the community. PCC will continue to offer free HIV/STI testing, immediate linkage to medical care, mental health care, medical case management, peer support, mobile health screenings and more.
Truesdale Medical Center’s footprint will also be greatly expanded, including an on-site pharmacy. TMC and Avita pharmacy will be available not only to those clients of PCC or people living with HIV/AIDS, but also to anyone looking for a primary care facility to call their medical home. From same day/acute illness visits to infectious diagnosis, gyneocological services, HRT and PrEP, TMC provides experienced, knowledgeable, and welcoming medical care to all people.
