About Truesdale Medical Center
Truesdale Medical Center is named in memory of James Edward “Jimmy” Truesdale who passed away on Feb. 12, 2017, at the age of 76. Truesdale was a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. In the 1970s, he moved to Washington, D.C., and began working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the office of legislative affairs. He was the NOAA Congressional liaison until well into the 1990s. He shepherded scientists and their testimony as well as budgets through the legislative processes on Capitol Hill. His final post was with the Hollings Marine Laboratory in Charleston.
After retiring, Truesdale was an active in the Charleston community through politics and civic organizations. Truesdale was a dedicated supporter of Lowcountry AIDS Services (now Palmetto Community Care) for many years, including serving as president of the board of directors.
