Palmetto Community Care launches TelePrEP,  offering virtual access to HIV prevention for adults across the Tri-County

Stay protected, stay connected. Local care from real people.

Palmetto Community Care (PCC) today announced the official launch of TelePrEP, a fully virtual HIV prevention program now available to insured adults ages 18 and older. TelePrEP allows patients to start and maintain PrEP medication through secure telehealth visits, at‑home or local lab testing, and discreet prescription delivery—bringing trusted, local care directly to the community.

With TelePrEP, patients can complete a brief online eligibility questionnaire, schedule a virtual visit with an experienced provider, and receive PrEP medication through Avita Pharmacy with no in‑person clinic visit required.

“TelePrEP is officially live, and we couldn’t be more excited to offer this level of access to our community,” said Bradley Childs, chief executive officer of Palmetto Community Care. “This program removes barriers that have kept too many people from starting PrEP. Now, prevention can happen from home, on your schedule, with the support of real people who care.”

TelePrEP includes:

  • Virtual provider consultations
  • Quarterly at‑home or local lab testing
  • Quarterly telehealth follow‑ups
  • Ongoing support from PCC’s PrEP navigators
  • PrEP prescriptions shipped discreetly
  • Optional DoxyPEP for bacterial STI prevention

Ninety-nine percent (99%)  of TelePrEP patients pay $0 for their medical visits, labs, and prescriptions. Most insurance plans cover PrEP and required labs, and PCC bills insurance directly. Some restrictions may apply.

“This launch represents a major step forward in HIV prevention for our region,” said Heather Urie, medical director at Truesdale Medical Center and Palmetto Community Care. “TelePrEP gives patients privacy, convenience, and continuity of care—without sacrificing the personal connection that makes Palmetto Community Care a trusted provider.”

For uninsured individuals or those under 18, PCC continues to offer in‑office PrEP services and additional prevention resources.
